What to expect on your first visit

Allow about 15 minutes to complete paperwork (medical history and  insurance information) unless you fill it out prior to the visit - see links on this page.

Once paperwork is completed, you will meet with your Physical Therapist. Your therapist will review your medical history and referral, perform an initial evaluation, discuss YOUR physical therapy goals with you, design and explain YOUR treatment plan, as well as provide a personalized home exercise program to get you back to your lifestyle as efficiently as possible. Allow 60 minutes for your first physical therapy visit.

Oh yeah ... don't forget your referral and insurance card! :)

Frequently asked questions - Physical Therapy

Do I need a referral to be seen at Complete Physical Therapy?

Yes and No.    :)

You don't need a referral to be seen by a physical therapist or massage therapist in Washington State. However, your insurance likely requires a referral for physical therapy or massage therapy if you are using it to pay for the service. Referral can be on any form; it doesn't have to be our referral form. Here is one if you want to take it to your physician: Download Referral Form.

Do you accept same-day appointments? How quickly can I be seen?

Yes - for both physical and massage therapy. We’ll give you an option to schedule your first physical therapy appointment within 24 hrs.

Can I see the same therapist every visit?

Absolutely. We strongly believe that continuity of care and treatment plan in physical therapy are crucial for your speedy recovery. Occasionally, you might be offered to see a different therapist to accommodate your busy schedule, but this will always be discussed with you.

What should I wear for my first appointment?

Please wear comfortable clothing so that your physical therapist may have access to the body part that is bringing you to physical therapy: tank top or a loose t-shirt is best for upper extremity injuries, shorts or exercise pants are best for lower extremity injuries. If for some reason you were unable to bring loose clothing, we'll find something for you!

How do I know if my insurance will cover treatments?

We are a preferred provider for most insurance plans, including work comp (L&I) and auto insurances if your injury is due to a motor vehicle accident (MVA). Call us and we will verify and confirm your insurance coverage and if you have a co-pay or a limit on your physical therapy and therapeutic massage coverage. (253)314-5762

How long are the visits?

Physical therapy appointment is 40 – 60 minutes long, depending on your treatment plan. Massage therapy appointments are 1 hour and half-hour.

Frequently asked questions - hand Therapy

What is hand Therapy?

Hand therapy is rehabilitation of the upper limb with focus on hand, wrist, and elbow. It is the merging of occupational and physical therapy theory and practice that combines comprehensive knowledge of the structure of the upper limb with function and activity. Hand Therapy address bridge the gap from medical management of upper extremity conditions to successful recovery, allowing individuals to function normally in their daily lives. Hand therapists provide non-operative interventions, preventative care and post-surgical rehabilitation for a wide variety of upper extremity disorders, from simple fingertip injuries to complex reconstructions. Patients with chronic conditions, such as arthritis, or neurologic conditions, such as a stroke, can benefit from therapy through education on joint protection and energy conservation, and with recommendations for adaptive equipment or devices to improve function. A hand therapist employs a variety of techniques and tools, including activity and exercise programs, custom orthotic fabrication, management of pain and swelling, wound care and scar management.

Frequently asked questions - massage Therapy

Is massage therapy covered by medical insurance?

It depends on the insurance. Massage therapy has been more and more accepted by insurance companies, but plans vary greatly - we will always verify your insurance coverage so that there is no surprises for you and us. Work injuries (L&I claims) and auto accidents almost always cover massage therapy.

Do I need a referral to be seen for massage?

Yes and No.    :)

See our answer to this question above in the Physical Therapy section.

Do I have to be completely undressed during my massage therapy session?

You should undress to the level that you are comfortable with. The therapist will work around the clothes you left on as best as he/she can. If removing all your clothes makes you too nervous and unable to relax, then you are not getting the optimal benefit from the massage therapy session. You will get an opportunity to discuss this with your massage therapist before initiation of the session.

Your massage therapist will give you privacy to undress and get comfortable on the table.

Do I have to listen to Enya during my massage therapy session?

Thank goodness for streaming music services … You don’t!! The choice is yours since this is is YOUR massage therapy session. :) Simply discuss this with your massage therapist, and they’ll make it happen, be it Metallica or Luciano Pavarotti! :)
